The Ex Mente team had an exciting and fun year-end excursion on Friday 22 November 2019 at the Zwartkops Raceway kart circuit. The main point on the agenda was an F1 simulation that included practice, qualifying, and a 12-lap race. This was followed by cold beers and snacks, and some heated debate of what transpired during the race.

The end results were Ruan ended 1st, Willem 2nd, and Alfred stole the last podium position from Johan on the last lap. Deservedly, Alfred did not get his usual cup of coffee during the following Monday morning meeting. ☺

Other highlights included a strong show of tenacity from Nicole, the only female participant, who made good use of the inverted grid during the early race laps, Nigel “the Stig” who really looked the part, and Jeff who was strict as usual during the safety briefing and supportive when providing feedback and lap times after each stage.

In summary: It was brilliant fun! We cannot wait for the next Ex Mente race day coming up during ThermoWeek 2020.

The format of the week has changed from last year to make the training more accessible and to equip attendees with the necessary knowledge and skill that will allow them to do powerful thermochemical calculations with FactSage™.
