2025-04-30

When we hosted Pyro Community Day in 2019, our aim was simple: to bring together a community that believes in the power of connection and collaboration. Advancing to 2025, that vision has grown into something truly global. Pyro Community Day brings together professionals, researchers, academia, and innovators to share expert insight and experience from the pyrometallurgy industry.

This year’s theme, Making 1 + 1 Equal 11, encouraged participants to focus on collaborating with intention, ensuring that they make an exponential impact. Pyro Community Day 2025 showed what is possible when we work together.

A Day Defined by Intentional Collaboration
This year’s agenda focused on collaboration that drives value. Insightful technical presentations and informal break-time conversations created a space for people to connect meaningfully across the academic, commercial, and industrial spectrum.

Participants commented on the importance of finding a common language that respects both the industry’s need for confidentiality and academia’s need for world class research.

Intentional Collaboration Is About Active Listening
Throughout the day, Pyro Community Day encouraged participants to really listen to the concerns, challenges, and goals of our Pyrometallurgy industry. The conversations sparked important, future-oriented questions:

  • How do we better prepare the next generation of pyro professionals?
  • How can research translate more seamlessly into industry solutions?
  • How do we nurture a community that supports one another through challenges?

These questions reflect the daily realities of those who work in, and rely on the pyrometallurgy industry. Pyro Community Day gives the industry the opportunity to align research, innovation, and global requirements for a cleaner industry.

Beyond the Buzzword: The True Meaning of Collaboration
At Pyro Community Day 2025, we redefined collaboration to capture the essence of what it means in our industry. For us, true collaboration is co-creating solutions, building trust, and committing to long-term value for the whole community. It is not about a single institution or company; it is about empowering a global community. Hearing clients reflect on how empowered they felt to bring new ideas forward, and how they were encouraged to tackle tough challenges, was a highlight. It was inspiring to hear that participants feel that they are supported by a network of peers who are just as invested in the future as they are.

The Future of Pyro Community Day
Pyro Community Day 2025 left us inspired and optimistic. The insights shared and the strength of the community that continues to grow around this initiative, makes us look forward to next year. Thank you to everyone who participated for your contributions, your questions, and your collaboration. We look forward to welcoming you back. In the meantime:

How will you be Making 1 + 1 Equal 11 until we meet again?
